Daily Life of An Acupuncturist

Overview:An acupuncturist consults a one on one session with a patient with their skills and knowledge to treat multiple health problems.The acupuncturist would talk to the patient and learn about the patient's problems. This would usually take half an hour or an hour. Subsequent sessions may take 45 minutes to an hour.The duration of the treatment will depend on the severity of the injury. Some patients require multiple sessions of acupuncture while others require only a few. 

Training:In order to be a acupuncturist, a masters's degree or doctoral degree is required. A masters's program requires 3-4 years to complete.The courses that are required are biomedicine, acupuncture points, herbal medicine, and needle technique. A normal doctoral degree program usually consist of 6 semesters plus the masters's degree program. Multiple states require acupuncturists to be licenses in order to practice. Each state requires different requirements and the most common requirement is the certification from the Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine(NCCAOM).
